Lately, it seems that every time you turn on the TV or open a magazine or newspaper, someone is talking about Dr. Siegal’s COOKIE DIET® and the "success stories" it has spawned. Recently, ABC's The View, The Wall Street Journal, People magazine, The New York Times, ABC's Good Morning America, NBC's The Today Show, Entertainment Tonight, and dozens of other media have profiled Dr. Sanford Siegal and his famous, hunger-controlling cookies. That kind of notoriety doesn't happen overnight.
The Original...Since 1975
Dr. Siegal’s COOKIE DIET® weight-loss system and hunger-controlling cookies and shake mixes have helped more than 500,000 people lose weight. They were created in 1975 by Dr. Sanford Siegal to help patients of his Miami, Florida medical practice, Siegal Medical Group, control their hunger and stick to their diets. To this day, Dr. Siegal mixes every batch of his secret amino acid protein blend with his own hands in his private bakery.
While most people who’ve used our cookies and shakes for weight loss have eaten six cookies during the day and a reasonable dinner in the evening, our foods will control your hunger on virtually any calorie-restricted diet.
They're also an excellent snack food if you aren’t on a diet.
For most of its 35 year history, Dr. Siegal’s COOKIE DIET® was available only to patients of Dr. Siegal and those of about 200 other doctors that he supplied. Then, from 2002 to August 2006, he licensed a company to open weight management center franchises that used his name, six-cookies-a-day weight-loss system, and hunger-controlling foods. The company opened centers under various names including Siegal Smart for Life Weight Management Centers. The relationship ended in August 2006. Dr. Siegal no longer supplies his products to any of his former franchisee's locations. (Read full story)

In early 2007, in response to many requests, Dr. Siegal decided to offer his products directly to the public, online, by phone, and in stores. He and his son, Matthew Siegal, formed a new company to take Dr. Siegal's COOKIE DIET® directly to consumers for the first time. CookieDietOnline.com, our original web site, was launched in May 2007. Shortly thereafter we began opening Dr. Siegal’s COOKIE DIET® retail kiosks in shopping malls across the United States. Our new web site, CookieDiet.com, launched in December 2008. Our first full-size retail store opened in Beverly Hills in January 2009. Our products are also available from more than 2,100 physicians, drug stores, and other retailers, including many GNC and Walgreens stores.
Early in his career, Dr. Siegal realized that Hunger Wrecks Diets™. He knew that if he could control his patients' hunger he could help them stick to their diets and lose weight. Drawing on his chemistry background and passion for cooking, he discovered that combining certain food substances in a particular way produces a mixture of proteins that offers unusual hunger control per calorie. He used his discovery to create his now-famous diet cookies and, soon afterwards, shakes and soup with the same hunger-controlling qualities.
Dr. Siegal, his books, and his famous cookie-based diet have been featured in dozens of print, broadcast, and online media including The View, Good Morning America, The Wall Street Journal, Fox News, CNN, Forbes, the Los Angeles Times, Globe and Mail, and People.
Other So-Called "Cookie Diets"
In recent years, entrepreneurs have tried to capitalize on the success of Dr. Siegal’s COOKIE DIET® by introducing knockoff products and services. None of these products contain Dr. Siegal’s proprietary formula. See Dr. Siegal’s blog, Barbarians at the Oven Door, for more information.
Dr. Siegal's New Book
Dr. Siegal's Cookie Diet Book is now available online and in stores. This is Dr. Siegal's first book in nine years and the first about his cookie-based diet. It provides a concise, thorough explanation of the weight-loss system that has helped more than 500,000 people since 1975. But before he explains how to follow his diet, Dr. Siegal explains why it works. He takes the reader on a fascinating and entertaining journey through 250 years of weight-loss approaches and remedies. For the first time, he explains how the research and writings of all-but-forgotten eighteenth and nineteenth century physicians and scientists like Short, Pennington, and Banting—the Atkinses, Agatstons, and Siegals of their time—influenced his own research and led him to create his special cookie.
Includes step-by-step instructions, meal guidelines, and recipes.
